Stone - Appeal for Information After Report of Assault

At approximately 4:55pm on Saturday 12 September 2026, police were called to reports of an assault on the Trent and Mersey Canal in Stone, on the stretch between Stafford Street and the Canalside Car Park.

A male was reportedly assaulted on his narrowboat by another male.

Witnesses described the suspect as a white male, approximately 35 years old, of slim to medium build, with brown hair and wearing a grey tracksuit.

The male was seen approaching the canal via the path from the Canalside Car Park and leaving in the same direction following the incident.

Were you present on the canal towpath or on the Canalside Car Park between 4:45pm and 5:00pm on Saturday 12 September 2026? If so, please get in touch, as you may have information that could assist our enquiries.
